Section L/ Ambulatory Surgery Center Waiting Area

Home to our Ambulatory Surgery Center.  Upon entering patients are greeted by a patient-focused reception staff and are easily directed to the pre-certification area to fill out necessary paperwork prior to surgery.  Both visitors and family members of the surgical patients are particularly pleased with the waiting area which includes a flat-screen TV, refreshments center, and seating that comfortably holds more than 24 people.

Pre-Operation

Upon admission to the Ambulatory Surgery Center you will be assessed by a nurse in the pre-operative area.  A patient’s health history, vital signs, current medications, and anesthesia history will be reviewed.  The type of anesthesia and surgery planned for you will determine the need to change into hospital attire and have an IV started.  You may receive pre-operative medications if your physician determines the need.  Confirmation of your surgery site is verified and a surgical permit is signed for the planned procedure.  The nurse will explain what will occur in the operating room and what to expect in the recovery room.  Ambulatory Surgery center staff encourages family participation in the pre-operative and recovery room areas.

For both physicians and patients, the best features of the Ambulatory Surgery Center are the two spacious operating rooms that allow excellent flow for staff, multiple placements of operating room table, and plenty of room for instrument tables and the latest monitoring/video equipment.
