Community support is the foundation of Vermillion Medical Clinic values and is proud to present Vermillion Food Pantry with a check in the amount of $2,500. The Vermillion Food Pantry was established in 1984 with one volunteer filling food sacks and distributing them to those in need. The need has grown and so has the Vermillion Food Pantry. Now serving more than 400 people each month, many volunteers are required to keep things running smoothly.
"There are a number of ways the community can get involved with the food pantry." Said Keith Joy, past president of the board of directors. Volunteers are always welcome and when asked how to organize a food drive Joy stated, "anyone can hold a food drive, just start collecting."
Each year Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C. and Vermillion Medical Clinic support non-profit organizations in their communities through supply drives and monetary donations. Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C. employees are currently collecting new gloves, hats, scarves and socks which will be distributed through the Contact Center in Yankton. In September both clinics held an underwear drive for victims of Hurricane Harvey. 72 packages were collected and sent to Undies for Everyone, an organization based in Houston, Texas.
