Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C. Enhances Patient Care with 16-Slice CT Scanner
Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C. has recently enhanced patient care services by upgrading their CT scanner to a Toshiba Aquilion 16-slice Computerized Tomography (CT) scanner. Now, within seconds, the new 16-slice CT scanner can capture multiple, wafer-thin, high resolution images of a patientŐs anatomy, including the spine, head, abdomen and chest.
Originally developed in the 1970's, CT or "CAT" scans combine the power of x-ray technology and computers-allowing physicians the ability to view cross-sections of internal anatomy without the need for surgery. Today, the Toshiba Aquilion 16-sliceCT scanner offers patients faster, more comfortable experiences for the state-of-the-art scans while providing physicians with diagnostic images with greatly improved detail.
"The 16-slice CT scanner provides us with higher quality images and more flexibility," said Dr. Will Eidsness, Board Certified Radiologist. "It compliments and extends the high range of quality diagnostic services that we already offer the community, keeping Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C. competitive with larger metropolitan areas."
The innovative 16-slice CT scanner offers the ultimate in speed and precision. Normal exam time for a CT scan before the 16-slice CT scanner was approximately 15-20 minutes. Now, exam time is down to about 10 minutes.
Not just speed, but quality, has Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C. physicians excited about the diagnosing tool. The images are extremely detailed, capturing an image about the thickness of a human hair, and are as clear as high-quality photographs. Patients also benefit from the 16-slice scanner to utilize only the amount of x-ray beams necessary to perform the scan, reducing exposure to the patient.
