Yankton, SD —Flu Shot season will be in full force in the next few weeks. One local clinic, Yankton Medical Clinic, will offer new options for the community to receive their flu vaccine. The popular drive-thru flu shots will be available again behind the YMC building on October 2nd and October 22nd from 3-6pm. There is no appointment required for the drive-thru flu shots as patrons are encouraged to load up their vehicle and get the whole family vaccinated.
This year, there will be a Tuesday clinic. Every Tuesday beginning October 1st from 3-5pm, a flu shot clinic will be held in the clinic. Walk-ins will be accepted but appointments are preferred. You can schedule your appointment online through the YMC website or by calling 605-665-7841. The Tuesday clinics will run every Tuesday until November 12th, except for the 22nd with the drive-thru clinic scheduled on that day.
If it’s hard for you to get your family gathered and make it in during the week, two Saturday morning clinics will also be held this year on October 12th and November 2nd from 9am- 12 noon. Again, appointments are preferred, walk-ins will be accepted, with appointments scheduled online through the website or by calling 605-665-7841.
Please bring a completed flu shot form and a copy of your insurance with you to the flu shot clinics. The flu shot form can be picked up at YMC or downloaded from the website.
The clinics are for anyone aged 6 months and older. The CDC recommends everyone receive the flu vaccine. From CDC.gov/flu, “The best way to protect against flu and its potentially serious complications is with an annual flu vaccine. Flu vaccination has many benefits. It has been shown to reduce the risk of getting sick with flu and also to reduce the risk of more serious flu outcomes that can result in hospitalization or even death.”
YMC recommends you visit your Primary Care provider regarding any questions or concerns you may have. As a reminder, YMC has a primary Physician in clinic 6 days a week.
