Yankton Medical Clinic Ambulatory Surgery Center Lifts Restrictions on Elective Procedures

Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C. announces that most restrictions on elective procedures have been lifted at the Yankton Medical Clinic Ambulatory Surgery Center. Restrictions were put in place for most procedures due to the COVID‑19 virus. The decision to reopen was made following the announcement of Governor Noem’s Back to Normal Plan for South Dakota.  Procedures resumed Monday, May 4, 2020.

All guidelines set forth by the South Dakota Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will be strictly followed. Charles Aman, CEO of Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C. explains, “The Yankton Medical Clinic Ambulatory Surgery Center will closely monitor the supply of personal protection equipment (PPE) available to staff. PPE levels will be safely maintained for elective procedures to continue.” The Yankton community and surrounding area have done well to slow the spread of COVID-19, and those efforts should continue. If community levels of COVID-19 surge, elective procedures may cease to preserve PPE.

Even with the restrictions lifted, patient and visitor screening protocol at the clinic will remain in place.

  • Patients and visitors will have temperature taken at the entrance
  • Cloth masks are to be worn by patients and visitors inside the clinic
  • Screening questions of COVID-19 symptoms asked of patients and visitors
  • Visitors are limited to one healthy adult
  • Social distancing measures will be in place in waiting rooms

“Patient and staff safety is our priority,” said Aman, “As we move forward to reopening elective procedures, some things may be a little different but our commitment to patients and delivering compassionate, quality care remains the same.”

Patients who have had a procedure delayed will be contacted by their physician’s office to reschedule. As the Yankton Medical Clinic Ambulatory Surgery Center moves to reopen to include a wider scope of procedures, patients will be prioritized. Always contact your physician if your condition changes. Patients can reach their physician through the Patient Portal, the phone nurse or schedule a telehealth appointment to discuss.
